Solutions for the oceans and those who live beneath — Reducing noise, preserving life

From Submarines to Sustainable Seas

Born in 2016 within Naval Group – a French defense leader on designing & producing undetectable submarines, SSQ was the brainchild of Damien Demoor and a world-class team of acoustic and materials engineers. Later on, SEALENCE, a subsidiary of GREENOV, further developed the technology and created a dedicated entity to industrialize SSQ. SEALENCE is part of the mission-driven GREENOV Group, whose mission is to protect marine ecosystems by reducing the impact of human activities.

Initially inspired from noise reduction principles used for French nuclear submarines, the technology quickly proved its potential.

The system was first tested in Norway in 2017 with NTNU.Then a LIFE-AGESCIC project allowed to redesign the solution for real-sea conditions and to test it at St Nazaire (France) early 2024.

In 2020, after Naval Group refocused on defense, Damien decided to purchase the SSQ technology patents and adapt this technology to the highly demanding offshore civil sector. An innovation born in the depths of high value military expertise is now helping protect our oceans.

Mission

To harness cutting-edge acoustic and materials engineering to protect marine environments and improve the sustainability of human activities at sea.

We develop innovative solutions that reduce underwater noise pollution, safeguarding marine biodiversity while supporting responsible maritime industries.

Ambition

To become a global leader in noise mitigation solutions for the civil maritime sector — from ports and offshore construction to renewable energy offshore projects — shaping a future where technological performance and ocean preservation go hand in hand.
