Our Projects
Driving Innovation for a Quieter, Greener Offshore Future
Our projects bring together leading industry players, research institutions, and regional partners to develop groundbreaking technologies that reduce the environmental impact of offshore construction and coastal works.
From the pioneering SubSea Quieter® system, designed to limit underwater noise during coastal works, to innovative solutions in fixed and floating offshore wind technology, Sealence is shaping the next generation of sustainable coastal & offshore infrastructure. Each initiative reflects our vision: combining technical excellence with environmental responsibility to support the Europe’s and worldwide clean energy transition.

Project : Sealence
Project background :
The EIC Accelerator program is an essential resource for innovative companies such as GREENOV-ITES, enabling them to develop and deploy their groundbreaking technologies on a large scale. Through substantial funding and strategic support, the program helps start-ups address the challenges associated with bringing their innovations to market, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and competitive European economy.
The Sealence project is a perfect example of the EIC Accelerator program’s impact in promoting responsible technological progress in the renewable marine energy sector. It supports the development of the SubSea Quieter® technology, assisting in the design of a solution adapted to a sea trial site and the associated structural hydrodynamic studies, as well as the purchase and construction of a prototype and its corresponding testing phase.
Start/End dates :
From 01/01/2023 to 31/12/2025 (45 months)

Project : Cap SSQ R&D Project
Project background :
The CAP SSQ project is part of the SSQ for Monopile final design stage. It focuses on several technological challenges in collaboration with seven specialized companies from the Pays de la Loire Region (SMEs and mid-sized companies) to create a Local Supply & Expertise Chain: Metacoustic, a specialist in noise; Narval Solutions, a consulting company specializing in port and maritime logistics; Armitec, an expert in metallurgy; Neopolia, a business cluster ; GEPS Techno, an expert in the development of renewable marine energies; and Sehla, an industrial group specializing in electronics. This project reflects the Region’s commitment to supporting companies in the Pays de la Loire that develop and industrialize “Made in Pays de la Loire” solutions addressing the challenges of ecological transition and decarbonization
Start/End dates :
From 01/01/2025 to 01/07/2026

Project : Join Industrial Partnership (JIP phase 1/1Bis) SSQ Monopile
Project background :
The Join Industrial Partnership (JIP) “SSQ Monopile” brings together a consortium of offshore developers co-financing and providing technical expertises to support GREENOV in developping and demonstrating the SSQ Monopile. Launched in December 2023 and scheduled to run through until mid 2026, the JIP Phase 1/1bis project has already completed its basic design, the demonstration of a reduced-scale prototype in Saint-Nazaire under representative maritime conditions, an acoustic measurement campaign, and a 1/10 scale testing in a hydrodynamic basin. Current work focuses on system improvement, detailed design, operational and safety analysis, and acoustic modelling at a distance of 750 meters.
Phase 2 is an intermediate step between our sheltered area trials (Phase 1) and the large-scale offshore demonstration (Phase 3). Conducted at a smaller scale in coastal waters, but under sea conditions that remain representative once scaled, this phase aims to perform new acoustic tests during real offshore pile driving, validate the operability of a representative system in real conditions, address remaining technological challenges, and reassure installers about the operational performance of the SSQ before moving to full-scale offshore trials.
Phase 3 Coming soon
Start/End dates :
Start date: December 2023
Planned end date: 2026

Project : VERTI-GO
Project background :
Within this framework, our work focuses on adapting the SubSea Quieter® (SSQ) to the floating vertical-axis wind turbine developed by SeaTwirl. The study aims to assess and optimize the integration of the SSQ for the deep anchoring of this innovative turbine design, ensuring effective noise mitigation. This contribution supports the development of next-generation offshore wind solutions by combining two innovations: SeaTwirl’s vertical-axis floating wind turbine and the SSQ’s environmentally friendly noise reduction system.

Project : LIFE AGESCIC
Project completed
Project background :
The AGESCIC project offers an innovative, unique, and economical technological solution to the two main environmental problems created by coastal works. The AGESCIC project aims at developing new technological solutions to reduce the impacts of coastal works on marine environments, in particular the impacts of noise pollution and turbidity on marine fauna and ecosystems.
The AGESCIC project is the test phase in real conditions for three innovative technologies. They form a completely disruptive solution:
- Noise mitigation and turbidity containment system: SubSea Quieter® Blue Shield.
- System to control acoustic and turbidity impacts: Smart-PAM+.
- System to restore the ecosystems necessary for coastal fish: HAREST
Greenov is involved in this project by creating the SubSea Quieter, which is responsible for reducing noise and turbidity.

Project : I-NOV SEALENCE
Project completed
Project background :
The I-NOV SEALENCE project aims to develop the “SSQ® Pile Driving Jacket” acoustic and turbidity containment system to reduce the environmental impact of pile driving work on offshore wind turbine foundations of jacket type (piles of approximately 2-3 m diameters). The I-NOV SEALENCE project also aims at demonstrating the system in real size and conditions on wind turbine piles, possibly in a French wind farm, as a prerequisite to the marketing of the SSQ® Pile Driving jacket version in 2025.
Key information:
- Two demonstration phases: the first at reduced scale in Saint-Nazaire dry dock and the second at full scale for a jacket pile (about 2.5m diameters) in a real pile on an offshore wind park.
- An in-depth study about the mechanical resistance of the SubSea Quieter membrane collaboration with ENSTA Bretagne and IFREMER through a CIFRE doctoral position.
- A certified AIP scheme of the SubSea Quieter Pile Driving system as Noise Mitigation System.
